High Speed

At the highest Froude number tested (Fn = 0.80), Figures 4, 7 and 10, Seakeeper predictions start to over predict the heave response if transom terms are not included. If transom terms are included good estimates of the peak response are achieved. However, the difference between the predicted and measured resonant frequencies is increased when compared with the results at slower Froude numbers.

Predictions of the pitch response with and without transom terms show significant differences, and this is due to the velocity term in the transom terms. Again, the magnitude of the resonant peak is relatively well predicted when transom terms are included but the frequency at which the peak occurs is poorly predicted.
