Windows

Seakeeper uses the Maxsurf graphical view windows to display the Seakeeper model. Please refer to the Maxsurf manual for more information on the view windows.

Specific Seakeeper windows are described below:

§   Inputs Window

§   Results Window

§   Graph Window

Inputs Window

This window has four tables:

Locations

This is where the remote locations positions are specified.

Speeds

This is where the vessel speeds are specified.

Headings

This is where the wave headings are specified.

Spectra

This is where the wave spectrum characteristics are specified.

Use the Add and Delete Remote Locations functions in the Analysis menu to add or delete remote locations; when deleting select the entire row of the remote location to be deleted. You may define any number of each variable, place a tick in the “Analyse” column of the rows you wish to include for analysis.

Results Window

This window displays the computed data in tabulated form. The data are arranged on separate data sheets. The following datasheets are available:

Summary

m0, RMS and significant amplitude of motions, velocities and accelerations of the vessel for the specified sea condition.

MSI

Motion Induced Sickness data for the specified remote locations

RAOs at CG

Vessel RAOs for the principal degrees of freedom, at the vessel's centre of gravity, for the specified speed and heading.

Spectra at CG

Wave and response spectra for the principal degrees of freedom, at the vessel's centre of gravity.

Spectra at remote location

Wave and response spectra for the principal degrees of freedom, at the vessel's centre of gravity.

Global hydrodynamic coefficients

Global coefficients, cross-coupling terms and excitation forces in the equations of motion.

Sectional hydrodynamic coefficients

Added mass, damping, stiffness and wave excitation for each of the sections at each of the frequencies of interest.

Depending on which table is selected, you may use the pull-down menus in the Results toolbar to select which data are displayed:

Graph Window

The above data may also be displayed in graphical form. To display the data in graphical format choose Graph from the Window menu or click on the graph button.

The different data sets within the datasheet may be turned on or off by selecting Graph Options from the Display menu. The x-axis scale may also be changed in this dialog.

The Graph window Toolbar allows you to quickly select which graph is displayed and adjust which lines are drawn on the graph:

Sectional data may be plotted against frequency or section position. Select Section Hydrodynamics from the drop down menu in the toolbar.

Coordinate data may be viewed by clicking on the curve of interest. The slider may then be dragged left and right; the coordinates are displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the window.
