When designing a member to determine the lightest weight section that may be used, you may wish to apply some constraints to the way the sections are selected. For example, you may wish to limit the section's depth or width or you may wish to ensure that a group of members all use the same section.
To constrain the selection of a member's section
Ø Select the required members in the Frame window
Ø Choose Constraints… from the Design menu

Ø Check the boxes corresponding to the sizes you wish to constrain
Ø Type in the limits for the sizes you wish to constrain
Ø If you wish to make the sections the same, check the "Make sections the same" check box
Ø Click OK
The initial value of constraints is for no limits on the sizes of sections and all members are free to be designed using a different section.
