When a stringer is run down the hull, you need to specify the angle between the stringer and the surface at each frame. This allows Workshop to calculate the orientation of any cutouts which may need to be made in the frames to accommodate the stringer. The default orientation is to have the stringer perpendicular to the surface. If you want to change this orientation you can do so using the Orientation command from the Stringer menu.
To set the orientation of a stringer or stringers
Ø Select the stringers you want to change
Ø Choose Orientation… from the Stringer menu
A dialog box will appear showing the orientation options.

Ø Click on one of the radio buttons to select your orientation
Either:
Ø Type in an angle for the orientation
Or:
Ø Click and drag on the stringer diagram to rotate it to the desired location
Ø Click OK to set the orientation of the selected stringers
By default the Workshop Library is set up so that asymmetrical stringers (for example L sections) are inserted with their toe facing towards the centreline of the vessel. If this is not desired you may flip the stringer so that the toe direction is pointing outboard. To do this highlight the stringer(s) you wish to flip and activate the Stringer Angle dialog box (Stringer | Orientation), check the "Flip Toe Direction" box and click on OK.
